The Coach

 Headed by Brandon Birdsong, a 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifier, Run Your Personal Best offers Olympic Development/Elite Coaching for those wanting to take their running to the highest levels of the sport.

 

A Lubbock, Texas native, Brandon led powerhouse Adams State University to their 3rd consecutive NCAA Cross Country Team title with a 4th place overall finish at the NCAA Championships in 2010, finishing his college career with two NCAA All-American Honors. 

 

After college, Brandon joined the American Distance Project in Colorado

Springs among some of the best coaches and athletes in the US. While an elite runner with the American Distance Project, Brandon qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in his debut half marathon, running 1:04:21 and placed 2nd at the BoulderBolder 10k in 2013. 

 

In an effort to improve his training and prevent injury, he became interested in studying the science behind different training methodologies and graduated with a bachelor of science in exercise physiology. He has been involved in all facets of running, including event management, coaching, and working for major running brands in addition to his 10-year career as a competitive runner.

 Having coached multiple Olympic Marathon Trial Qualifiers he has worked with several top coaches across the U.S. and developed his own eclectic training approach that focuses on an individual’s particular needs. Brandon strives to make training new and fun, while enabling the athlete to reach their full

potential.

 

He lists Damon Martin, Joe Vigil, Scott Simmons, Jason Vigilante, and Andrew and Deena Kastor as mentors that contributed to his training approach.
